NOT May 6th - 2021

A quick throwaway project from 2022

Put best by myself when I first shared the painting online:

β€œOn May 6th 2019 I had a nice and emotional night with some friends, and I went back to my tiny room in my weird flatshare and started painting, and then kept painting on the same canvas for about a year. The idea was to document a year in an abstract artistic way (I was too lazy to film a 1-sec a day). A pandemic hit during that time so by the time of the anniversary I was locked down in a different town to the painting, but this project was my idea and the rules are mine to change, so I finished it some time after May 6th, 2020. Then I forgot about it for a year and then remembered it. here it is!

Presenting NOT MAY 6TH

A year in a painting, whether or not it translates to anyone's brain besides mine, there's a lot of feelings and experiences documented in this. It's also messy, thrown together and lacking in any real technique, which is perfect because that's exactly how I was then.”

Not much has changed, I guess.

Below is the full process, beginning to end.
